Helping Children Move, Grow, and Thrive

At the New Jersey Pediatric Neuroscience Institute (NJPNI), we understand how vital physical development is to your child’s overall health and happiness. Our pediatric physical therapy services are designed to support infants, toddlers, children, and adolescents with mobility, strength, posture, and coordination — helping them reach important milestones and enjoy everyday life to the fullest.

What Is Pediatric Physical Therapy?

Pediatric physical therapy focuses on evaluating and treating children with motor delays or physical challenges caused by injury, neurological conditions, developmental disorders, or musculoskeletal conditions. At NJPNI, our experienced therapists use evidence-based techniques to improve your child’s movement and independence in a fun, encouraging environment.

Our Pediatric PT Team
Led by two experienced, board-licensed pediatric physical therapists — Jhoanna Rae Marquez and Giana Giorello — our team offers compassionate care rooted in experience, trust, and clinical excellence. Whether your child needs early intervention or therapy following surgery or injury, we’re here to help every step of the way.

Conditions We Treat

Our pediatric PTs work closely with NJPNI’s pediatric neurology and neurosurgery teams to evaluate and treat conditions such as:

  • Torticollis and plagiocephaly (flat head syndrome)
  • Developmental delays (crawling, walking)
  • Pediatric hydrocephalus
  • Spina bifida
  • Cerebral palsy
  • Balance and coordination disorders
  • Gait abnormalities
  • Muscle weakness or tightness
  • Recovery after pediatric neurosurgery

Services We Offer

We provide individualized treatment programs that may include:

  • Therapeutic exercise
  • Neuromuscular re-education
  • Tummy time coaching for infants
  • Positional therapy and stretching
  • Gait training and balance exercises
  • Parent education for home carryover
  • Post-operative rehab following neurosurgical procedures

What to Expect During Your Child’s Visit

Your child’s first visit will include a detailed evaluation of:

  • Motor skills and strength
  • Range of motion and flexibility
  • Posture, gait, and balance
  • Functional skills (e.g., rolling, crawling, walking)

We then create a customized treatment plan based on your child’s age, condition, and developmental goals. Each session is designed to feel like play — because we believe therapy should be as joyful as it is effective.
