Evelina Okouneva, DO

Pediatric Neurologist

We are proud to announce our newest Neurologist joining our practice July 2024!

Dr. Okouneva graduated from St. Petersburg State Pediatric Medical University in St. Petersburg, Russia with a degree of Doctor of Medicine in 1991. She is also a graduate of New York College of Osteopathic Medicine of NYIT with a degree of Doctor of Osteopathic Medicine in 2003. She then completed her Traditional Rotating Internship at Nassau University Medical Center, Pediatric Residency at Winthrop University Hospital and fellowship in Child Neurology at UMDNJ. During her fellowship she developed an interest in Autism and Neurodevelopmental Disorders . After graduating fellowship in 2009, she joined Children’s Specialized Hospital as a Pediatric Neurologist. She holds an academic appointment at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School with Department of Pediatrics, Division of Child Neurology as Clinical Assistant Professor of Pediatrics.

Dr. Okouneva is board certified by American Board of Psychiatry and Neurology with Special Qualifications in Child Neurology. She is an active member of the Child Neurology Society and American Academy of Neurology.

Dr. Okouneva has a passion for improving patient care utilizing the latest technologies and advances in medical practice, working as a part of the multidisciplinary team, and nurturing long term relationships with her families.

She has a special interest in ADHD, developmental disabilities and learning difficulties, Autism Spectrum Disorder, tics, headaches, mental and behavioral health.

She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, cooking and gardening.
