NJPNI Paid Summer Internship Program

Shape the future of neuroscience with hands-on experience at NJPNI.

We are proud to offer a paid, 8-week summer internship for pre-med college students, primarily rising juniors, who are passionate about becoming the next generation of neuroscience physicians.

Program Basics
  • Who: Pre-med college students (primarily rising juniors)
  • When to Apply: Applications open October for the following summer
  • Duration: 8 weeks
  • Positions Available: Typically 2 per summer
Who Should Apply
  • We encourage you to apply if you:
  • Aspire to become a neuroscience physician
  • Have strong academic standing
  • Possess a well-rounded CV/resume with research and publications

  • Application review → selected candidates invited for virtual interviews in January
  • Final selections announced in February

What to Expect as an Intern

  • Shadow neurosurgery, neurology, and physiatry providers during patient visits
  • Observe surgery (based on hospital rules & availability)
  • Participate in departmental meetings and lunch-and-learn sessions
  • Assist with office tasks (~10% of your time)
  • Complete research: Two publishable research papers under physician mentorship
