Juliet Young

Juliet Young, MS, CGC, is a board-certified genetic counselor and a 2025 graduate of the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai’s Genetic Counseling Program. Juliet was inspired to pursue genetic counseling after members of her family were diagnosed with Parkinson’s disease and subsequently learned they carried a genetic change associated with the condition.

For nearly a decade, Juliet has pursued opportunities focused on supporting individuals and families navigating neurogenetic conditions. Her experiences include serving as a research assistant on a project investigating the use of non-invasive spinal cord stimulation to improve gait function in individuals with Parkinson’s disease, contributing to the development of tremor-stabilizing gloves for individuals with hand tremors, and coordinating a clinical research study examining how virtual reality influences communication between individuals with dementia and their care partners. During her graduate training, Juliet completed additional clinical hours at Mount Sinai’s Movement Disorders Center, further deepening her understanding of the evaluation and management of neurogenetic disorders. She has also counseled patients across a range of neurogenetic indications, including autism spectrum disorder, seizures, and movement disorders.

Juliet is passionate about creating a supportive environment where patients and families feel heard, understood, and empowered. She approaches genetic counseling with compassion and curiosity, helping individuals navigate complex information while supporting them in making decisions that feel right for themselves and their families.
