Gurpreet Kaur Seehra, MD

Pediatric Neurologist

Dr. Gurpreet Kaur Seehra is a pediatric neurologist and clinical neurophysiologist who completed both her residency and fellowship training at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA).

Her path has centered on neurology from the very beginning. As an undergraduate at Washington University in St. Louis, she majored in neuroscience. She went on to earn her medical degree at the University of Missouri–Kansas City, where she trained in a rigorous, community hospital–based program with a strong emphasis on clinical skills. During medical school, she was accepted into the prestigious Medical Research Scholars Program at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), where she conducted neurology research on Gaucher disease that led to multiple publications and further sharpened her research and clinical analytical skills.

It was during these years that she discovered her passion for pediatric neurology, and for pediatric epilepsy in particular. That interest led her to UCLA, where she spent six years training at a high-volume hospital and top-ranked epilepsy center, developing the skills and knowledge to care for children with a wide range of neurologic conditions. She chose to pursue her fellowship in clinical neurophysiology for its detailed study of the entire nervous system, with a focus on clinical epilepsy and training in reading and analyzing EEGs of all complexities.

As a parent herself, Dr. Seehra understands what families experience from both sides of the exam room, a perspective she believes deepens her relationships with her patients. She is excited to put down roots in New Jersey, be closer to family, and continue doing the work she loves—helping children."
